How to move on

I believe that everything in my life has been predetermined and predestined before the beginning of time.

This concept in and of itself is a slippery slope. Because we all possess a measure of free will, we can do what we want when we want and how we want—within reason.

In the Islamic tradition, a man is speaking to a scholar about determinism and free will.

He asks the scholar to define and illustrate the difference between the two.

The scholar tells the man to lift one leg of the floor.

He then tells him to lift his other leg of the floor while keeping the first leg raised.

The man, exasperated, says that that is impossible.

The scholar tells him that determinism and free will is like this.

Some things are within our control and some things that are not.

Your level of religiosity does not affect your understanding of this concept.

The internalization of this idea is crucial to one's development.

It allows you to let go of the things that are out of your control and to take control of the things that are.

If you want to make a difference in your life today, then the fastest way to do this is to stop ruminating on the past.

You need to stop thinking about what happened when you were younger and how if you did xyz you would be in xyz position. NO, that did not happen, and you are wasting your precious and scarce time thinking about what could have been than what can be.

If you find yourself stuck in a loop, in other words, you keep thinking about something, and you hate thinking about it, do this: hum the tune to your favourite song.

Keep humming, your mind will slow down, and you will begin to focus on the music.

You must take control of your thoughts, and this is not easy. Think of your mind as literally any other muscle in your body, (Only this muscle can open the world to you) you need to train your mind, the more you train yourself, the stronger you become!

A mind under your control looks like this: less procrastination, less harmful habits, increase in your proclivity for tasks you used not want to do. There are no side effects to Mastering Yourself.

Stop wasting your time being concerned and doting over a person who does not reciprocate those sentiments.

You are too valuable,

too precious,

and far too busy.

Focus on yourself and your home.
